About Us
Our History
DeLeon Judo was founded by Jim Santiago Deleon in 1970 through USJA. He has produced a number of National and International competitors who were very successful. In 2007, Sensei Henry Kaku took over as the Head Instructor after Jim Deleon retired. In 2008, Deleon Judo Club under the instruction of Sensei Kaku produced it’s first Jr. National Champion in the USJF/USJA Winter Nationals. In 2009 and 2010 at the USJF Jr. Nationals, Deleon Judo Club once again produced couple of National Champions. DeLeon Judo Club students continued to produce both state and national champions in several divisions. Our students continue to do well, often placing in the top three in local, state, and national competitions. We continue to produce a number of national IJF competitors.
While participation in competition is encouraged for the students, it is not required. Students can earn their promotions though hard work and commitment to learning Judo.
DeLeon Judo Club is a registered member of USJA, USJF and USA Judo. DeLeon Judo is a member of the USJF CENCO Yudanshikai.
